....In the book Wintergirls a girl named Lia made a pact with her best friend that she was going to be the skinniest girl in school. Then her best friend dies, and she starts hearing voices. They tell her she has to keep losing weight, which she does. She can't control it anymore and she is emitted to a hospital but released due to what they thought was "stable condition".
